Rain Bird, the world's leading manufacturer of irrigation equipment, has identified an exclusive group of contractors to have the elite status of "Select Contractor". The requirements to maintain this recognition include:-
Rain Bird offers a referral program to assist in finding a prequalified irrigation contractor in your area, where ever your project is located. Go to the web site at rainbird.com and navigate via "sprinkler systems for your home" to "find a contractor" and the "contractor referral request form".
Enter your personal information and the location of your project, and Rain Bird will respond by E mail in a day or two. They have a sincere interest in ensuring the proper application and installation of their product and thereby a successful project for you.
We began in 1988 when my father moved to Whistler after 10 years as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and 14 years as President of the Canadian division of Rain Bird Sprinkler Mfg. Corp, the world's largest manufacturer of irrigation equipment.
Our growth has mirrored the rapid development of this area. We have designed and installed more than 1000 significant irrigation systems in the Sea to Sky corridor, together with numerous hanging basket, planter drip and residential landscape projects. We design and install both commercial and residential low voltage lighting systems for safety, security, and landscape highlighting and decorative purposes. We also provide assistance for do-it-yourself work in both of these areas.
From the beginning, we offered a similarly high quality, season long service program for all of our projects, as well as those installed by others. Over 1200 full service customers under contract, along with many "as needed" call outs from others, now provide two thirds of our irrigation and low voltage lighting business activity.
The excellence of our work reflects the experience and qualificiations of our staff and the high level of credentials obtained by the company. We are the only contractor resident in Whistler, and the only Irrigation Industry Association of B.C. Certified Contractor and Rain Bird Select Contractor in the Sea to Sky area.
My father and I live in the community and will be here when you need us. We are very proud of the competence of our employees who are all permanent Whistler residents, and average more than 10 years experience with us. We have the expert knowledge and vast experience to be the best choice for all your irrigation needs.
Paul Hauschka
President
Prepare the system for use, when it will be needed, during the season.
The irrigation water supply is turned on. The system is activated and tested in detail including controller electrical functions. Any minor repairs, billed at time and materials, are completed so that the system will operate as intended.

Schedule, operate, test, and maintain the system during the season.
We ensure that the system is delivering just the right amount of water required by the landscape, when it needs it. We are extensively trained, are experts in irrigation control technology, understand how environmental factors impact the landscape, and are vigilant.
Operation at peak efficiency will help meet water conservation goals while minimizing pest infestation and disease, runoff and erosion, and leaching of soil nutrients.
We inspect the irrigation site regularly, the frequency depending upon weather trends and the severity of current and forecast conditions. Also considered are events such as storms, power surges or interruptions, lawn fertilization, planting annuals, risk of vandals, age or reliability of components, and landscaper frequency, quality, and communication skills.
At each site visit we reprogram the controller as appropriate. For each of the separate system zones, the average plant water needs, specific sprinkler and nozzle precipitation rate, soil infiltration rate, and design efficiency will all previously have been calculated.

The water supply is turned off, and the system is blown out for the winter.
A large volume of low pressure compressed air is used to very carefully, and progressively, remove the water from all zones and components of the system.

We provide immediate service with eight cellular dispatched service / season monitoring technicians.
Their trucks arrive on your site fully stocked with the tools and material required for any situation. These personnel, after rigorous instruction and testing, have qualified in all appropriate Irrigation Association specialty certifications. They also have an average of more than 10 years of internal training, and experience with us in Whistler. They are therefore not only technically skilled, but we can assign staff who are very familiar with your irrigation system, or have an "as built" or detail sketch of same on their laptop computer. We are therefore able to deliver exceptional value for the time spent by providing efficient, expert diagnosis, and speedy repair of any problems.

Hanging baskets and planter pots are a beautiful addition to any residential or commercial property. They do however require special attention and regular watering to survive. We have developed a very unobtrusive method of automatically irrigating these and have several thousand baskets/pots under seasonal management.

Low voltage landscape lighting is a beautiful addition to any property and allows you to enjoy hours more from your landscape investment. Subtle accent lighting can highlight the natural features and add depth to your landscape while also providing safety and security. Enjoy the warm summer nights on your patio or watch the winter snow falling from the fireside. The options are endless.

Safeguard your drinking water. Potable water suppliers, including the RMOW, require the installation during initial construction, and a test report to confirm satisfactory performance, of approved control assemblies on all cross connections in the building plumbing system. These devices vary in sophistication to match the hazard level of each cross connection, but they must be testable, and can usually be repaired. They protect the health of you and your neighbours by preventing contamination of your drinking water by backflow or backsiphonage from other systems using the same potable water source. Examples of such systems are your irrigation, laundry, building heating, hot tub, air conditioning, and fire sprinkler systems.
It is required by the RMOW, and prudent, that the devices be retested annually to confirm that they function as intended. We have the instruments needed and B.C. Water Works Association Certified Active Testers who are qualified to perform this work and complete the required report to the RMOW.

The B.C. Safety Authority conducts exams to verify the competence of any person who performs electrical work and grants licenses to individuals who successfully qualify. The contractor who installs or performs maintenance on electrical equipment must employ a suitably "ticketed" license holder and must themselves have qualified as a licensed "Electrical Contractor" and thus posted a performance bond with the Safety Authority.
Irrigation low voltage valve and sensor control wiring as well as the high voltage work associated with installation of the system controller require both the contractor to be licensed and the individual performing the work to have a low energy ticket. Permits may only be obtained by meeting these requirements and are necessary based on the value of the project.
Due to the high hazard potential of inadequate electrical work, the Safety Authority conducts extensive public education programs as well as code enforcement.
